Το OPTIMUM 3 των Λιβά και Λάζου.
Στις 14 Μαΐου διεξήχθη το Κύπελλο ΠΟΙΑΘ. Η ηµέρα ξεκίνησε µε λίγο άνεµο και σχετικά άστατο και η Επιτροπή Αγώνος έκανε φιλότιµες προσπάθειες να ξεκινήσει την πρώτη ιστιοδροµία. Ο στίβος ήταν τραπέζιο που κατέληγε σε όρτσα-πρύµα. Τα σκάφη ξεκίνησαν µε άνεµο από τις 220 µε ένταση 6-8 κόµβους, αλλά στο πρώτο καβατζάρισµα ο καιρός γύρισε µέχρι τις 90 µοίρες και η Επιτροπή ακύρωσε την κούρσα. Μετά από αναµονή να σταθεροποιηθεί ο καιρός, τα σκάφη ξεκίνησαν και πάλι. Η µπουκαδούρα είχε στρώσει, η ένταση του ανέµου πέρναγε τους 10 κόµβους και η διεύθυνση ήταν από τις 170. Ο ήλιος και η ευχάριστη θερµοκρασία έκαναν τους ιστιοπλόους να ευχαριστηθούν τις πλεύσεις, µε το GANT να κάνει την καλύτερη εµφάνιση. Η 2η ιστιοδροµία ήταν ακόµα καλύτερη γιατί ο άνεµος ανέβηκε κι άλλο. Νικητής το OPTIMUM που τελικά ισοβάθµησε µε το GANT µε µία πρώτη και µία δεύτερη θέση έκαστο, στα IRC. Στα ORCi το ARISTOFANI µε µία δεύτερη και µία πρώτη ήταν πρώτο, µε δεύτερο το ALSOUMA και τρίτο το ALPHABANK. Παράλληλα έτρεχαν και τα Platu25, σε όρτσα- πρύµα, αγώνες που µετρούσαν στο πανελλήνιο πρωτάθληµα. Εκεί, Μάντης και 3ΑΛΦΑ έκαναν ακόµα µία εξαιρετική εµφάνιση, µε το URSA MINOR να είναι σε µεγάλη φόρµα. Η 2η ηµέρα ήταν αντίγραφο της πρώτης. ∆ηλαδή, το πρωί δεν υπήρχε ίχνος ανέµου, αλλά κατά τις 2 το µεσηµέρι, πρόβαλλε η µπουκαδούρα. Τα Platu ξεκίνησαν κανονικά και άρχισαν τον αγώνα. Τα υπόλοιπα σκάφη πήραν εκκίνηση, αλλά δόθηκε ολική ανάκληση. Μετά από αναµονή λίγων λεπτών, ο αγώνας ξανάρχισε. Νικητής στα IRC ήταν πάλι το GANT µε δεύτερο το OPTIMUM, που την προηγούµενη ηµέρα είχαν ισοβαθµήσει. Στη δεύτερη ιστιοδροµία, ίδιες συνθήκες και πάλι τα σκάφη ταξίδευαν γρήγορα. Στα IRC αυτή τη φορά κάτι δεν πήγε καλά µε το GANT και τερµάτισε τέταρτο ενώ το OPTIMUM πρώτο. Έτσι η γενική κατάταξη στην κατηγορία είχε πρώτο το OPTIMUM, δεύτερο το GANT και τρίτο το MELX II.
The HORC Cup took place on May 14. The day started with weak and quite fickle winds and the Race Committee made considerable efforts to start the first race. The trapezoid-shaped beat ended in a windward-leeward pattern. The sailboats started with the wind blowing from 220o at 6-8 knots, but after the first rounding the weather turned to 90o and the Committee cancelled the race. After waiting for the weather to get steady, the boats started again. The land breeze was now steady with the wind blowing from 170o at over 10 knots. The sun and the pleasant temperatures made the yachtspeople enjoy the rides with GANT giving the best performance. The race became even better when the wind picked up more. The winner was OPTIMUM which eventually tied with GANT as they got one first and one second place each in the IRC category. In the ORCi category ARISTOFANI came first after winning a first and a second place. Second came ALSOUMA while ALPHABANK was third. The Platu25s were also doing a windward-leeward race at the same time. The results of this race would be taken into account for the panhellenic championship. In that race, Mantis and 3ΑLFΑ gave another exceptional performance with URSA MINOR also found in a great shape. The second day was a carbon copy of day one. Namely, there were no traces of wind in the morning, but at around two o’clock in the afternoon, the land breeze made its entrance. The Platus started the race as scheduled while the rest of the sailboats started only to be soon all recalled. After a short wait, the race was restarted. The winner in the IRC category was GANT again with OPTIMUM, which had managed a tie with GANT on the previous day, ranking second. During the second race and under the same conditions the sailboats were sailing fast once again. This time in the IRC category something went wrong with GANT and it finished fourth while OPTIMUM finished first. As a result, the overall ranking in this category brought OPTIMUM first, GANT second and MELX II third.
